【摘要】:Thistestmethodiscapableofgeneratingquantitativevaluesofatmosphericchloridedepositionspecifyingmilligramsofchlorideionspersquaremetreperday(orotherunitsderivedfromsuchvalues).Note18212;Chloridesintheatmosphereexistasasuspensionofliquiddropletsorsolidparticles.Theyaretransportedtosolidsurfacesbygravity,wind,orbrownianmotions.Thesetransportmechanismsaredirection-sensitivesothataverticalcylinderwillnotnecessarilyreceivethesamefluxasahorizontalplate,orobjectswithdifferentsizesandorientations.Therefore,theuseofthisapproachtoprovideanindicationofthedepositionofchloridesonobjectsinatmosphericexposuresmaynotbequantitativelyaccurate;however,thistechniquehasbeensuccessfulinclassifyingtheseverityofexposureinavarietyofmarinelocations.Thesiteswheresamplesaretobetakenandthesamplingtimeperiodsshouldbeestablished.Acontinuousprogramofmonthlyor30-dayexposuresisrecommendedforsitecharacterization.Seasonalmonitoringmaybeperformediftherearespecificperiodsofinterest.1.1Thistestmethodcoversawetcandledeviceanditsuseinmeasuringatmosphericchloridedeposition(amountofchloridesaltsdepositedfromtheatmosphereonagivenareaperunittime).1.2Dataonatmosphericchloridedepositioncanbeusefulinclassifyingthecorrosivityofaspecificarea,suchasanatmospherictestsite.Cautionmustbeexercised,however,totakeintoconsiderationtheseasonbecauseairbornechloridesvarywidelybetweenseasons.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
